About Aussies R Us
Aussies R Us is Australia’s independent solar and battery guide. We publish verified rebate and cost figures so household buyers can check a quote against primary sources — especially when the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program changes on a legislated schedule.
Who runs this
The site is operated by Michel Borrer, based in Western Australia. WA is not a coincidence: Synergy versus Horizon rules, DEBS export bands, and Perth install pricing are easy to get wrong from a generic national brochure. We write the national pages carefully and the WA pages with local depth on purpose.

Why it exists
Rebate content on the open web goes stale every time the STC factor or tier rules move. After 1 May 2026, flat-rate articles quietly misled anyone still reading them. We built a site where rates live in data files, pages stamp 12 July 2026 when we last checked, and every update is listed on What changed.
Independence is the other half. Major quote marketplaces are now owned by energy retailers. We state that as fact on our compare pages and keep our own ownership simple: this is an information site run by Michel Borrer, not a retailer subsidiary.
Verification methodology
- Primary sources first. Federal figures trace to DCCEEW / Clean Energy Regulator program materials. State rows link to the administering agency pages in our data files.
- Dated stamps. Data-driven pages show a verified date from the data file, not a decorative “updated” guess.
- Public changelog. Material rate or scheme edits get a dated entry with affected URLs.
- One calculator. Worked examples and the public calculator share
calculateFederalRebate— no hand-edited dollar figures in article templates. - AI-assisted drafting, human figure checks. Copy may be drafted with AI tools; every money figure is checked against the data files or primary source before publish. See Editorial policy.
How we make money
Phase 1 (now): display advertising (including AdSense) and affiliate links. Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored" and accompanied by a disclosure where they appear.
Phase 2 (possible later): a quote referral form that shares your details with quoting partners. That form already exists behind /quotes/ but is noindexed and kept out of the main nav until we switch it on. If and when lead referrals become a revenue line, we will say so here and in the privacy policy — we will not soft-pedal that leads may be sold.
What we never do
- Sell placement inside editorial rankings or “best of” lists.
- Hide ownership or revenue relationships that readers need to weigh trust.
- Invent fixed state rebate dollars when the primary source only publishes a variable instrument.
- Use urgency theatre (“last chance!!”) around legislated step-downs — we publish the dates instead.
